Vintage Tapestry Corset Care & Handling Guidelines

Each piece is made from vintage tapestry fabric that already lived 50+ years before becoming yours, so she deserves a gentle hand. Here’s how to keep her beautiful for the next chapter:

Washing
1. Spot clean only. If she gets a mark, dab gently with a damp cloth and a small amount of mild detergent. Never rub, never soak. Let her air dry flat, away from direct sunlight.
2. Skip the washing machine and the dryer entirely — vintage wool fibers don’t forgive tumbling.
3. If you ever truly need a deeper clean, find a dry cleaner who specializes in vintage textiles and let them know she’s a vintage tapestry.

Handling
4. Apply perfume, lotion, and hairspray before getting dressed. These can stain the fabric or break down the fibers over time.
5. Lace her gently. Pull the cords evenly and avoid yanking — the eyelets are reinforced, but they’re still working with decades-old fabric.

Storage
6. Keep her out of direct sunlight when she’s not being worn. Vintage dyes are vibrant but they can fade over the years.
7. Hang her on a padded hanger or lay flat in a drawer — never folded sharply against the boning. A breathable cotton garment bag is perfect; avoid plastic, which traps moisture.
